You must already be WETT Certified.
Objectives:
  • To ensure that you are up-to-date on changes to the National Building Code for 1995 and B365 1991.
  • To introduce section 9.32 (Ventilation) from the National Building Code,
  • To review recent changes to several product safety standards,
  • To address technical issues in the field which you may need to have clarified by your instructor
  • To review appliance types, and
  • To review basic clearances for wood burning systems.
Scope:
The New & Review course is the first in a series of continuing education courses that WETT will develop. It is designed to serve as an efficient way for you to go over what you learned in the first WETT course(s) you took and to cover what may have changed since then. If you’ve had lingering questions about any regulations or technologies, this is the course for you!
Content:
  • pop quiz
  • review of appliance types
  • review of basic clearances for wood burning systems
  • introduction to section 9.32 of the National Building Code (Ventilation)
  • venting systems update, which covers chimney lining systems and chimney sizing and location.
Output:
For inspectors with a certificate of Successful Completion of the Code Compliance course (pre 1998), successful completion of the course (70% on the examination), when combined with the necessary 80 weeks of visual inspection experience, results in WETT certification Basic Inspection. For industry members, successful completion of the course (70% on the examination) results in one continuing education credit.
